Chevrolet has unveiled the 2027 Corvette Grand Sport alongside the all-new Grand Sport X, marking far more than a product launch. It represents a strategic repositioning of one of the brand’s most historic nameplates, now adapted to the mid-engine Corvette era and the broader technological evolution of the automotive industry.
The return of the Grand Sport name carries significant heritage. Originally created in the 1960s as a limited racing program, it has long represented the balance between performance and usability, acting as a sweet spot within the Corvette lineup.
New LS6: the heart of a new generation
At the core of this new generation is the 6.7-liter LS6 V8, which now becomes a central engine in the Corvette lineup, including the Stingray. With 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, this naturally aspirated engine represents the latest evolution of the Small Block, offering increased displacement, improved efficiency and stronger response across the rev range.
The LS6 features modern engineering solutions such as higher compression, optimized airflow and reinforced internal components, ensuring both performance and durability under demanding conditions. It also marks the beginning of a new generation of General Motors V8 engines.
Grand Sport: the pure Corvette experience
The Grand Sport remains true to its original philosophy: rear-wheel drive, naturally aspirated V8 and a strong focus on driving feel. Within the mid-engine architecture, this approach benefits from improved balance and sharper dynamics.
Standard Magnetic Ride Control and a road-focused setup position it as a true driver’s car. At the same time, performance packages offer track-oriented upgrades, including high-performance brakes, aggressive tires and aerodynamic enhancements.
Grand Sport X: hybrid performance and a new identity
The Grand Sport X introduces all-wheel drive through an electrified front axle. Combined with the rear-mounted V8, total output reaches 721 horsepower, creating a Corvette that blends raw performance with advanced technology.
This system enhances traction and acceleration while adding flexibility, including multiple performance strategies and a low-speed electric driving mode.
Design: heritage reinterpreted for the modern era
Chevrolet preserves the Grand Sport identity by reinterpreting classic elements such as hash marks and traditional color schemes. These are adapted to the modern Corvette layout, creating a clear visual connection between past and present.
Inside, a special launch edition introduces exclusive finishes and extensive customization options, allowing each car to feel unique.
More than a return: a redefinition of the Corvette lineup
Alongside the Grand Sport models, the Corvette Stingray also adopts the LS6 engine and benefits from chassis and suspension improvements.
This creates a more cohesive lineup, with each model playing a defined role. The Grand Sport once again positions itself as the perfect balance — capable on track, yet usable every day.
More than a revival, Chevrolet is redefining what Grand Sport means. It is not just a tribute to the past, but a clear statement that Corvette’s future remains rooted in performance, engineering and innovation.
