The FIA has taken a historic step by announcing its first-ever official Rally Esports competition, a global championship that will be contested on Assetto Corsa Rally and will culminate in a live final during the prestigious FIA Awards Week in Shanghai in December 2026. This move underlines the growing importance of sim racing within the international motorsport landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FIA Esports Global Rally Tour begins with an online qualification phase, running from May 12 to May 25, open to drivers worldwide. This stage will narrow the field down to just 56 competitors, divided across several regions: Europe, Middle East and North Africa, North America, South America, Asia-Pacific and Africa. Each region will qualify eight drivers, setting the stage for a highly competitive global contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the initial stage, the top drivers will progress to regional knockout rounds, featuring quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. This format is designed to create intense competition and high-stakes racing. The first regional event will take place in the Asia-Pacific region during the FIA Conference in Macau on June 23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European regional shootout will be held from October 16 to 18 in Frankfurt, as part of the SimRacing Expo, one of the largest sim racing events in the world. These events will feature equipment from FIA Esports Official Suppliers, including Advanced SimRacing and D-BOX, ensuring top-tier competitive conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the regional stages, the best drivers will emerge to secure their place in the global finals. A total of 16 competitors will qualify for the decisive phase. Europe will have a larger representation, with four drivers advancing, reflecting its strong network of FIA Member Clubs, while other regions will qualify two drivers each. The FIA will also allocate two wildcard entries, adding an extra layer of competitiveness to the final lineup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The climax of the championship will unfold on December 12, 2026, during the official FIA Awards Ceremony, where the top two drivers will face off in a live, head-to-head Grand Final on stage. With this initiative, the FIA not only legitimizes rally esports as a competitive discipline, but also opens new opportunities for drivers worldwide to showcase their talent on a global stage.
