The IMSA Vintage class is another category receiving major updates for this year’s iRacing Season 2. This is great news for a class with a loyal following, fully captivated by the powerful Audi 90 GTO and Nissan GTP ZX-T.
Dry and wet tires have been improved. The Nissan now comes with period-appropriate tire blankets, eliminating the need for extreme care when warming up the tires. The Audi, meanwhile, does not have tire blankets, but its Quattro all-wheel-drive system provides greater effectiveness on the opening laps.
Aerodynamic improvements have been made for the Audi’s High Downforce setups and the Nissan’s Low Downforce setups. For the Japanese car, suspension, aerodynamics, and turbo boost have been adjusted to match the 1989 season, making it six seconds slower, yet better balanced in performance against the Audi. The German car benefits from gearbox improvements, now offering more reliable shifts. Using “blip” on downshifts enhances both performance and authenticity compared to the original car.
Driving these legendary machines will be a much better experience.
