The FIA World Endurance Championship management decided today to postpone the opening round of the World Endurance Championship (WEC), the 1812 km of Qatar, an event initially scheduled for March 26 to 28. In constant dialogue with the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation, and in light of the current and evolving geopolitical situation in the Middle East, with the safety of competitors, teams, and fans as the top priority, the conditions were not in place for the event to take place on the planned date.
Following further discussions with officials from the Lusail International Circuit, where the race is held, a new date for the 1812 km of Qatar in the second half of the season will be determined and announced in due course.
As a result, the opening round of the season will now be the 6 Hours of Imola, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy, between April 17 and 19.
