Just over a week after the 12 Hours of Le Mans test days, Motorsport Games/Studio 397 shared the results achieved with the community. These events aimed to improve the simulator’s performance and connectivity in long-duration events with up to 62 cars on track. It’s worth noting, for those who may not know, that most individual and team events currently in the simulator are limited to a maximum of 38 cars on track.

Here are some figures and statistics from the event across the two days.

Event statistics

A single timeslot on Friday (February 27) at 10:00 UTC with:

  • 888 teams
  • more than 3,000 drivers in that timeslot alone.

In the Saturday (February 28) event:

  • 2,440 teams
  • 31 splits
  • 11,358 drivers
  • 15,000 driver swaps
  • 346,000 laps completed
  • more than 4.7 million kilometers covered

Following the events on February 27 and 28, five issues had been identified that needed to be urgently resolved:

  • Inability to rejoin the server – This issue was not detected during the event days.
  • Incorrect server configuration – Did not occur on either of the event days
  • Latency – Server health was good, although some participants experienced individual issues. These servers were upgraded in terms of Gbps connectivity for the events.
  • Server crash – None of the servers suffered fatal errors.
  • Premature server termination – All backend services operated correctly, and no event had to end prematurely.

Some disconnections under analysis

During the two days of the event, there were some user disconnections. On the 27th, a mass disconnection occurred across several splits, affecting a small number of users. This disconnection was likely caused by a temporary network routing issue in one of the switches.

Motorsport Games/Studio 397 has identified that, in larger races, the overall disconnection rate is still higher than desired. This issue will continue to be analyzed and tested with the aim of resolving it, with further changes expected after the upcoming version 1.3 of the simulator.
